Clondalkin Credit Union Ltd was founded on Friday 29th September 1962, at a general meeting held in the library on Monastery Road. Forty five people were present at the inaugural general meeting.
The initial savings of the credit union amounted to £101.00 (128.24) which was collected from the 45 members present at the inaugural meeting. Today, Clondalkin Credit Union has grown to over 20,000 members with savings in excess of 60 million.
Clondalkin Credit Union was the first credit union to register with the Registrar of Friendly Societies following the passing of the Credit Union Act, 1966.
On the 29th of September 2015, The Four Corners Credit Union merged with Clondalkin Credit Union to form a single credit union.
